Researchers view stress as the psychological perception of certain situations as being too demanding, harmful, threatening or even dangerous, which then results in a physiological response.

Hans Selye, modern stress researcher: “{Stress is…} any event which may make demands upon the organism {Stress calls for physical action/response} and sets in motion certain bodily responses which leads to a variety of temporary or permanent physiological or structural changes (After effects of stress can cause permanent or transitory changes in our body)”

These and other symptoms are mainly due to an outpouring, during perceived stress experiences, of adrenaline, cortisol and other stress related hormones. 

So it truly is important to have new perceptions, new and different beliefs, and very different strategies and responses during what we believe to be times of stress, to ensure health in the amazing systems and organs of our bodies.

Stress for you is likely to be intermittent throughout your day; by this I mean that it is unlikely you are experiencing stress for 24 hours a day.

The heightened excessive amount of stress hormones in our body can literally be deadly.

The stress response in you is likely to be triggered by, or anchored into something that happens in your environment which then sets off an internal thought process. 

It is possible that the focus of control over your state is external to you.

You may be totally calm, or happy, relaxed or content one moment – and then something in your environment triggers your stressed state.

You may know exactly what the triggers are. And you may have attempted to adapt your life style so that you do not have to experience these triggers.
